JITENSHA means bicycle in Japanese. Cycling is deeply rooted in Tokyo's culture and lifestyle. You come across all kinds of bicycles and people from all walks of life, all of whom ride. Cycling is the ideal way to experience Tokyo.
The Japanese art of living has inspired JITENSHA's search for the essential, for purity and elegance. A minimalist approach that can produce sharp, even extreme looks, as played out by Shibuya teenagers or Tokyo bikers.
This nod to Japan has guided all JITENSHA's choices, from the frame colors to the design of the handlebar ends. The desire to share one's life between Tokyo, Paris and all cities, the belief that the bicycle is and will increasingly be a great solution for urban mobility, the commitment to a sustainable environment, through smaller, more responsible companies.
That's the spirit and energy of JITENSHA!
MINIMALISM, PRECISION
AND ATTENTION
HAND-ASSEMBLED IN OUR WORKSHOP
Our mechanics fully assemble your JITENSHA in our Annecy workshop when we receive your order. Every thread is greased, every bolt tightened. Once assembled, each JITENSHA is "human-tested" before being packed and shipped.
FRAME MATERIAL COUNTS!
Our frames are made of Cr-Mo steel (thickness varies to optimize the weight/strength ratio). This alloy is best suited to city bikes. It offers superior comfort to other fashionable materials (aluminum or carbon). It has a natural flex to absorb road vibrations. Compared to standard steel, Cr-Mo offers twice the strength. This makes for a lighter frame with an ideal balance of strength, weight and durability.
